![]() Lots of sellers have asked for a long time for a way to make buyers that extend an offer that gets accepted by a seller to pay for that too. Some of the sellers that regularly post on this site. Sellers have asked for YEARS for a way to make bidders on auctions pay for what they bid and win. Fortunately for me I must not be in the test group as the thing I bought last week didn't require me to do anything until I won (automatic bid as auction ended in the middle of the night, I paid late morning the next day when I saw the notification that I had won.). Then the rest of us won't have to deal with that PITA. Maybe ebay can only torture people who don't have a track record of always paying quickly? They have the data to figure that out. But it needs solved in a way that doesn't tick off buyers too. That problem needs solved sooner rather than later. ![]() I get it that sellers need paid promptly. What if it is near the end of the auction, I just noticed it, and there is no time to do that and still bid (I sometimes forget about things I am watching until I get the email and around half the time the auction is either over or ending very, very soon)? As a procrastinator I see a problem with that (of course if I purposely plan to bid at the last second and log on soon enough to deal with it. Most of what I bid on has identical items listed over and over so it's not like I'll never be able to buy it another time. If I have to fill out my information each and every time I do this I am not going to do that. Sometimes I bid early so ebay will remind me the auction is close to ending (I am good at forgetting this) and then decide if I really want it and bid again with the intent of winning - well up to a financial point (usually I bid on things where I am not the only bidder). Ebay need to address that - for example be able to access information we put in once and use it each time. I also don't want the PITA of filling in all my financial information each time I bid. I also sometimes want to send a message to the seller when I buy (for example asking them to delay shipping as long as they can without penalty to themselves. Things are tilted SO far in the favor of buyers, eBay shifting things so that sellers see some relief is a nice change.Īs a buyer there is the issue of combining shipping (something rare in my case) as others have said. I know some dealers in low-value items see that extra 30 cent fee(s) as huge, but how often does that happen? And when you are manually discounting for shipping, just deduct that 30 cents from the discount on shipping. Sellers can refund for shipping discounts already, and if that combined purchase mechanism needs to be tweaked on eBay, so be it. Yes, I know there are cases where buyers want to bid on multiple auctions and combine Sometimes they don't pay at all, or they refuse to respond to messages about their (probably) intentionally incorrect address, meaning I have to cancel the transaction and relist the item on eBay and everywhere else. Since I am a multi-channel seller, I have to take this item off all the other marketplaces and lose the ability to sell there while I await the seller (who wants a discount!) to get around to paying for the item. If I go to an in-person auction, I have to pay before I leave the building, and in some cases have to provide a credit card or deposit before I am even allowed to bid.Ībout 50% of the offers I get and accept, or make to watchers, result in the buyer taking many hours or days to pay. The only people who would complain about this are deadbeats or people who are intending to retract their offer or bid.ĭon't make an offer or bid on something unless you are going to follow through.
